4 year olds

I had the best morning with Jake the other day. He is so funny! I love 4 year old logic. We started out making towers with Dixie cups. One of my kids favorite things to do. They are inexpensive and they make great towers. He made this one by himself, he is so proud!
Then he went outside to play and I found him squirting down the patio. We recently explained the precipitation cycle to the kids, and he told me he was making rain. The water that he squirts on the ground was going to dry up to the sky and make a cloud and then it was going to rain. I told him it sure would and keep squirting. That kept him busy for awhile! A little later I found him hiding behind the couch wrapping a sippy cup in tape. He looked really guilty so I told him I would give him paper and scissors if he wanted to tape stuff. A little while later I come back and find this. Not exactly what I meant.

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter!! This is Kelsey's new smile. Pretty funny!! We went to Ojai yesterday to see my family. Today we stayed home and I cooked my first Easter dinner. So grown up!! Dodd's dad joined us, Grandma Lorrie was sick. Here are some more pictures of our day.

5 weeks to go

So this is what 36 days left looks like. This picture is a little deceptive, because it feels a lot worse than it looks. The last month really stinks! When I first got pregnant I was going to write down all of the miserable things about being pregnant so if I ever wanted to do this again I could read my note to myself and talk myself out of it. This list would mostly include the sickness for the first couple months and the sore ribs at the end. I am sure that list will mean nothing to me in a few years, but right now it is very serious and I would prefer not to do this again! So just remember that future self!

Girly Girl!

Kelsey loves to play dress up! Her word for pretty is "boy". It took me awhile to figure this one out. Every morning when I would do her hair she would touch it and say "boy". I finally one day asked her to say pretty and sure enough it comes out "boy".

For anyone not using Google Reader

I know most of you know about Google Reader, but I have recently talked to several friends who don't use it. So I thought I would post about it for anyone who needs to get with the times. All you do is go to www.google.com/reader and then input all the blogs you love, then when you want to check to see if anyone has posted something new all you have to do is go to Google Reader and it tells you who has put something new on their blog. It saves lots of time instead of checking eachone at a time. Must try it if you are not already addicticed to checking it 5 times a day!!

Fishing

Yesterday we went up to Lake Casitas to try fishing for the first time. My parents gave Brooke and Jake fishing poles a couple of weeks ago and they have been dying to use them. Jake likes to stand at the top of our stairs, cast his line into the living room and pretend to catch fish. It was a beautiful day and Grandma and Grandpa Ashby met us out there. We didn't catch any fish but Jake enjoyed trying. After fishing we found a few geocaches.
This one is one of our all time favorites. It was only 400 feet from where we were fishing. It is a PVC tube mounted to the side of a water faucet post. You have to cover the 2 holes on the side of the tube, fill it with water, and the geocache floats to the top where you can grab it. The cache was a small waterproof container, with only a log to sign. We thought it was genius!! We found a few others but this was the best!!

Awesome Saturday

Last Saturday Dodd took all 3 kids to the zoo with his family. I wasn't too excited about walking around that big, hilly zoo, so he said I could stay home and have the day to myself. I must say I really enjoyed it!! It was really quiet and I kept thinking Kelsey was sleeping upstairs, but I got use to it. They had lots of fun and when they got home Kelsey told me over and over "monkey, whowho, bite" and then would bite her finger. Not really sure what went on there. As for my day, I went to the store and walked around slowly and didn't have to throw crackers and treats at the kids for them to behave. Very nice. Then I came home and worked on this new bumper for the baby. My mom made the quilt and I really liked it so I made the matching bumpers. I still need to do the bed skirt, better start cracking.

New Career

If Dodd ever needed a fall back career I really think a preschool teacher would be great for him!! A couple weeks ago we went to Pump-it-Up for Jake's preschool. Dodd was the only parent to get in and play with the kids. He had the whole group surrounding him begging him to get them. I was a little worried the other mom's would be weary of a strange man throwing their kids around, but no one complained and the kids loved him. Then last week he took his police car to Jake's school to show all the kids. All the kids loved crawling through the car, and Jake was happy about letting his dad handcuff him. Those might come in handy when they become rebellious teenagers!!
