One trip down, one to go

Last week we took the kids camping in Santa Cruz for two nights and then to my Brother's house for a couple days to see the cousins. The campground was great and had lots for the kids to do. We spent one day at the Santa Cruz boardwalk. It was a beautiful day and the kids had a great time. This week we leave to Kansas to see my sisters and more cousins!

Father's day

This was Dodd's father's day surprise. For the past couple weeks we were being woken up by our dog barking at this possum who would walk up on the fence teasing her. Dodd would go knock him down and chase him away, just to see him again the next night. He borrowed the trap and two nights later we caught him. Best present ever.

Then we went to my parent's house and Micah made us homemade ice cream.
This is Micah doing this crazy monkey lips. Cracks me up every time! Nice face, I know.
Dodd and his kids. I love how Jake and Kelsey pose without being told.

For all you Laker Fans

Confession: We didn't watch any of the Laker games. I don't know who they played. We are not sports people. But I found this outfit in the box of hand-me-downs and thought it was too cute. So this one is for you Leslie Laker Ashby!!

Disneyland the easy way

We only took half the kids!! We were planning on taking them all, but the day before we decided Micah would not do well. He is walking all over now and would not like to stand in lines. So we took him to Grandma Lorrie's house, and while we were there Brooke decided to stay also. I don't get her all the time, but it was probably a good decision on her part. When we took her to Magic Mountain a couple months ago she was really nervous about every ride. So that only left Kelsey and Jake!! What an easy, mellow day. Two kids, two parents, too easy!

Grandma's new puppies

In an effort to see the grandkids more, Dodd's parents got two new puppies! They are her "grandbaby magnets", and let me tell you it has worked!! We went and saw them monday, tried to go today and we are going over tomorrow. Three times in one week!! Brooke has always had a love for dogs so she is in heaven. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Never would have thought

Brooke got up on a stage and performed!! This is a big deal for Brooke. She hates people looking at her. When I heard her first grade class was going to put on a production of Jack and the Bean Stalk, I was not surprised to hear Brooke was the narrator. The narrator is a perfect part for Brooke. Maybe even a stretch for her. Then 3 days before the performance she decided to do the part of a servant, which had a singing part. I was blown away. She was VERY nervous, but she did a wonderful job. The play was cute and short. This is Brooke just before her part, she can hardly sit in her chair, and then her singing with her friend. She didn't want to invite anyone, that would only add to her stress, so here is the video for the grandmas.

Cakes

I am so glad this week is over! I did two wedding cakes, one Saturday and one last Saturday. I love doing it but it does stress me out a bit. They are pretty similar. I guess it is popular right now to put ribbon on your wedding cake. I like the look and it is easy decorating for me so I won't complain. They both had piping which is hard for me. I have horrible handwriting on paper, so "writing" on cake is not my favorite. I practiced a lot and got more comfortable with it and I think it turned out okay. Hopefully I will not be seeing any of my cakes on Cake Wrecks!

Jake's T-Ball

Jake, Coach Jeff and his most prized possession.. his trophy!

Jake just wrapped up this season of t-ball. It was fun watching his games. He started the season a little clueless, like hitting the ball and just standing there, sitting down in the outfield, and running home and standing on the plate until told to go back to the dugout. He has learned a lot and has had a lot of fun.
